Since the beginning of the church, Mathrusangam has existed
with the primary goal of enlightening Christ via motherhood.
Mothers, who are the lights of families, are helped and
supported by the members of Mathrusangam. On March 25, 1996,
Mar Paul Chittilapilly issued a proclamation establishing
Kalyan Mathrusangham, and Msgr. Thomas Thalachira served as
the organization's first director.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband
also, and he praises her."
Proverbs 31:28
Currently, Kalyan Mathrusangham (KMS) has over 6500 mothers as
members, and they collaborate closely with other organizations
at the parish, zonal, and diocese levels. Mathrusangam aims to
provide support and encouragement to mothers within the church
community. They offer a platform for mothers to connect, share
experiences, and uplift one another in their journey of motherhood.
Their primary objective is to deepen their faith, provide spiritual
guidance, and equip them to be godly mothers and role models. The
members of Mathrusangam solely organize the feasts of MotherMary
especially 'Mathavinte Vanakkamasam' in the month of May. Additionally,
they take part in a variety of diocesan activities like group singing,
mime, bible quizzes, etc., which allows them to witness Christ
through their deeds.
The association recognizes the unique challenges and joys of motherhood
and seeks to empower and uplift mothers in their Christian faith
and their role as mothers.
